Hello ladies and gents Welcome back! If your new to my page Welcome!! Today I just wanted to encourage you to be an Advocate. Whether it’s for your child (disability or not) or your elderly parent, no one will fight for them the way you will. Sometimes agencies whether private or government funded try to tell you what’s best for them. The only person who knows what’s best for them is YOU!
Now in the beginning of my story I was shy and intimated but I quickly over came that. Because while these are professionals who have had many years of schooling then I have, read way more books no one is going to tell me what’s best for my child. I know my child I am with him more then anyone.
Even when my mom was severely ill (god rest her sole) I had to advocate for her too. Again no one knows your parent better than you. Now I’m not saying they can’t make suggestions and that those suggestions won’t be carefully weighed, but I will ultimately make the decision (good or bad).
So I just want to encourage everyone to be an advocate for your loved ones. I know it’s hard to make these sometimes difficult decisions but if we don’t who will.
